Department of Transportation

Notice of Public Comment Period

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is now accepting public comments on the Final Draft of the 2022 Kansas State Freight Plan.

KDOT has taken on the task of updating the federally required State Freight Plan over the course of the last 12 months. The objective of the Kansas State Freight Plan Update is to build on past freight and rail planning efforts, as well as integrate and consider guidance being established in the Kansas 2045 Long-Range Transportation Plan and the Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program (IKE) and close the information gaps to develop the state’s vision for freight transportation and to identify strategies to achieve this vision.

A key part of the plan update process is sharing the final draft of the plan with the public and interested parties to ensure we incorporate and address any comments KDOT receives.

Public Comment Process

All public comments are to be submitted online via KDOT’s public comment management portal. This portal and the draft State Freight Plan can be accessed at https://www.ksdot.org/bureaus/burRail/rail/default.asp.

All comments must be submitted to KDOT online and received by 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2022. Comments received after the deadline may not be considered.
