SECRETARY OF STATE’S OFFICE INITIATES THE POST-ELECTION AUDIT PROCESS

Tuesday, November 8, 2022

TOPEKA – In accordance with K.S.A. 25-3009 and K.A.R. 7-47-1, the Office of the Secretary of State will conduct the random selection of races to be audited from the 2022 general election. The selection will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in the Memorial Hall Auditorium in Topeka. This event is open to the public and media.

“Post-election audits promote election transparency and provide verification of election results,” said Secretary Schwab. “Since 2019, over 400 post-election audits have been conducted and every county has successfully passed the required audit. I encourage my fellow Kansans to observe the post-election audit process for this year’s general election.”

Following the Secretary of State’s random selection, each of the 105 Kansas counties will begin a manual count of ballots for the races selected for audit to ensure the vote total matches the tabulator count.
